As about two of you (including myself) know, the fourth series in the Monsterpocalypse miniatures game was released last month and I only just got around to picking some up. I got birthday money (it's on Thursday) so I decided to get myself something fun.

To my delight, I got both monsters from the new Ubercorp National faction: Cyber Khan and Gorghadratron.

To my dismay, these two monsters are HORRIBLY painted compared to every other Monsterpocalypse miniature I have seen, including Aquosia, the other new monster I got and member of the new Elemental Champions faction. (FYI, Series 4 introduces six new factions and the previous six do not appear in this set.)

It's not even just the colors, which are flat and boring compared to all the beautifully-painted miniatures I've seen. There's gaps in the painting and it looks like they simply dumped paint on these guys. What makes it sadder is that when I look at the Ultra Forms, I can tell the figures are sculpted just as well as they've ever been. There's so much paint on these guys that all the lovely details on the figures are pretty much filled in except for a few patches in which they let the clear plastic show through.

While I'm happy to have these figures, I'm just incredibly disappointed in how shoddy they are compared to other Monsterpocalypse minitatures.

Edit: I've taken some photos to show what I'm talking about. Notice how the monsters on the left have a lot of nicely-painted details and shading while the monsters on the left are really flat-looking.
