Mecha Drone

Didn't I once say I WASN'T going to do a mecha version of the Halo Drone for awhile?

I feel like such a liar. D:

History:

Fusion reactors can be dangerous things, especially ones big enough to power the giant Covenant Assault Carriers. When a reactor that big springs a leak, not even the capable Huragok, Covenant engineers, can withstand the immense radiation. To account for dangers like reactor leaks or large-scale damage repair, the Covenant built a Yanme'e-based mech that incorporated various repair tools into its hands. A single Yanme'e can find, control, and seal a reactor leak in minutes, far quicker than it would take to deploy rad-protected Elites or normal Yanme'e and also far more safer.

The Yanme'e mech may mimic the race's appearance, but does not mimic its flight method; the mech's wings contain massive amounts of thrusters that can adjust and seperate into three sub-wings, but they do not flap. They are capable of sustaining the Yanme'e in atmospheric flight though, a trait which, after the Covenant Civil War began, made them invaluable as aerial assault troops, as the Elites had taken most of the mech-use flight packs with them, leaving only a handful of Brute mechs with flight capabilities.

As stated, the Yanme'e was originally intended for large-scale starship repair and thus does not have strong or heavy armor. It is heavily protected against radiation though and even Hunter Fuel Rod Cannons can have a difficult time destroying a Yanme'e. Slugthrowers, however, are able to easily chew these mechs apart...if they can hit, that is.

Due to the pressing needs of the Covenant Loyalists during the civil war, most of the Yanme'e mechs were sent into battle and were thus destroyed upon the Elites' victory. What few remaining units existed in Loyalist shipyards were turned over to the UNSC as part of the surrender treaty signed by the Yanme'e and the Elites. It is unknown if more units will be built.

In battle, Yanme'e are typically armed with oversized Plasma Pistols and Needlers, though reports of one unit using a Brute Plasma Rifle during the defense of a Loyalist repair yard have been filed.
